Ashlei is an actress and writer known for her work on Broadway, Television, and Film. Ashlei received critical acclaim for her starring role in Paramount’s Star Trek: Picard on Paramount+, where she portrayed Sidney La Forge, one of Geordi La Forge's (LeVar Burton) daughters and the Titan's helmsman. Currently, Ashlei stars as Dr. Naomi Howard on NBC's Chicago Med. Chestnut is also leading in the film Mistletoe & Matrimony streaming on HBO Max, alongside Sheryl Lee Ralph’s son Etienne Maurice.

Previously, Ashlei was seen in Issa Rae's Rap Sh!t on HBO Max, Freeform/Hulu's breakout thriller-mystery hit series Cruel Summer, and CBS's NCIS: Los Angeles. Prior to this she made her Broadway debut in the Tony nominated revival of Arthur Miller's The Crucible directed by Ivo Van Hove, and was in the company of the Tony nominated play A Doll’s House Part 2 directed by Sam Gold and Lucas Hnath.
